In making a blog, I spent countless hours trying to learn everything I could find. There is so much online about how to start a blog. I got lost in the sea of information. Overwhelmed and frustrated became a way of life. I knew I was making it harder than it had to be, but I couldn’t stop. I felt I needed to know everything before I started. Yes, I was making it harder than it was. For Pete’s sake elementary children make blogs everyday. I have a bachelors degree. Twenty years ago, I taught myself HTML code and made web pages….FOR FUN!
I know I’m capable of learning. But I put so much pressure on my self I was blind to the reality.
Finally, after three months of losing my mind, I had to step back, take a deep breath and turn it down. I realized I had to keep it simple. And what do ya know? It worked. So here we are. I brought it down to the basics and started posting. Is it a professional blog with all the bells and whistles? No. Will I get there eventually? Yes. Will it be today? No. Does it make a difference if it’s today or next year? No. I forgot the point was to start a blog. And guess what. I did. I didn’t start out thinking it was going to be the best blog online but some how that was the pressure I put on myself. No one else did that to me. I did it to myself.
The fact is, if you don’t slow down and realize what is truly important, you won’t ever get any where.
Life, like blogging, is not that hard. Slow down, figure out what’s important and take it one step at a time. You have accomplished more than you realize. You have overcome task big and small. Make a list of everything… even if you have to start with the fact you got out of bed and brushed your teeth two days in a row. When you are starting your new journey every victory counts.
You are strong, powerful, and in control of your life. You got this!
